Hi All,

After much reading on this forum (thanks for all the helpful info!), JTIS, AllData, etc I wanted to put together a parts list to perform the dreaded Timing Chain, Tensioner and Guide replacement since the PO didn't update the tensioners.

Prefer to use OE (from Forum Sponsors) and get all done in one job.

Below is a list of OE part numbers, quantities and descriptions. Considering adding some 'extra' bolts for any items that might strip/break off during this procedure, open to suggestions. IMHO the worst feeling is when you are 95% complete with the car only find out you have to special order a screw/gasket and wait 5 days to complete the job.

Based on the below, anything that might be missing or you would recommend adding?

You must like working on cars. I only replaced the secondaries, thermostat housing and water pump. Good idea to get the aluminum thermo housing, Welsh Ent. has a good one with new thermostat.

Part number NCA2575CA - Part name is isolator per lookup on Gaudin Jaguar Parts website (also on Jaguar Classic Parts website).

Part number C2C11477 - Part name is Water Outlet Seal

 

Thanks RJ & JL, this information is really helpful -- Appreciate the comparison!

Like working on Jags, but am dreading this dismantle, especially after reading all of the horrors of removing the crankshaft & bolt. Figured it was better to just do it all at once the engine was opened, but am actually reconsidering doing only the secondaries for now. The car has been sitting because it started the rattle on a cold start and I'm afraid to start it up again until I can get the covers open.

Probably get the secondaries done quickly and get it back on the road and consider doing the other tensioners/chains once I solve the transmission issue of intermittently slipping when accelerating from a stop sign which I'm hoping is just a replacement of the valve body
