99 XJR won't start, just a "CLICK" noise

After my POS civic self destructed on me, I decided to give the Jag another try rather than saving the civic. Replaced secondary tensioners to metal body ones for about $52 a pop, forgot about the shorter bolts until after I was done, but read others have installed with original bolts before so not too worried, everything torqued to spec as well. Car has been sitting for months, brought out the jump start and all I get is a CLICK noise. At first I thought it was the starter, did some browsing, and seems like these cars like to have crappy connections. What are some good spots for me to start checking?

The false bulkhead connector, a heavy black cable bolted to the brake pedal assembly cover and a similar cable that runs to the fuse boxes and interconnects try unbolting them and checking the connections tidy them up with sandpaper/wire wool.
A freshly charged battery too.
I'd recommend using the shorter bolts - there are oil galleries that feed the tensioners if these are blocked off by the bolts then the tensioners aren't pumped up with oil and have no tension. If you can't get then take 5mm off the originals with a hacksaw or grind them down.

Not an XJR, but my XJ12 had a click-no-start condition recently. In my case, power was making it to the firewall stud just fine, and the block ground was solid. I pulled the starter (NOT FUN on the V12) and got it rebuilt, but I discovered the problem as I went to reinstall the overhauled starter-- the big ring terminal on the starter positive lead had a tough layer of corrosion. I had previously tried to clean the terminal with CRC QD and a handheld wire brush, back when the click-no-start was just intermittent. Using sandpaper, without the starter in the way, it took a few minutes of scrubbing to get through the crust on the terminal and reveal bright metal.

mate I was trying to be nice, I literally don’t care at all what you think you’re the only one who has an issue so keep it to yourself, this is once again jag forums I don’t care for how I speak I’m not trying to be formal I’m trying to get an answer without your childish comment which is so unnecessary, I’m a 21 year old I’m a different generation to obviously you so keep whatever you’re gonna say next to yourself and if it isn’t only about jags it shouldn’t be on here!!!
In other words, you want other people to give you their experience and their time for free.
It doesn't matter whether you're 21 or 71, the common ground should be a level of maturity and respect you don't seem to have acquired yet.
Perhaps you missed this when you joined:

If so, let me share some of it with you once again:
"Please DON'T write your posts with long unbroken lines of text. It makes posts very difficult to read. DO be sure to create line breaks and space out your text. This will ensure members read and hopefully reply, helping you with your issues."
As Jhartz said, "if I have hurt your feelings..."
Just know that this forum really won't miss a self absorbed individual of any age who thinks the rules somehow don't apply to him and whose interpretation of "being nice" seemingly doesn't extend past his own keyboard.

This is getting out of hand, leave the lad alone. OK his punctuation may not be on par, who’s to say he isn’t dyslexic? I understood everything he wrote perfectly and I’m English and I also hold three educational qualifications in English Language and Literature.
The internet these days is full of people who write stuff badly and don’t use the correct punctuation, it’s a fact of modern life. Calling people out on it is just petty, there’s far worse examples of writing and punctuation on forums including this one.
As for reviving a 12 year old thread, I can understand that too. It saves all the hassle of going over it again, the information is already mostly there. Therefore if the new poster comes along and sees a thread with similarities to his own issue, yet non of the answers have helped, then that tells us a lot there.
There are far more concerning this in this world to worry about than someone’s punctuation, let’s just be happy there’s a “young” enthusiast who’s trying to fix one of these cars and use it, rather than going and getting a new car on EZ Finance.

Tmcmurdo5,
You obviously don't know when to quit while you're behind. I left Ken's post in place because it accurately described your behavior.
Goodbye... forever....
