99'XJR-Blown head gasket
This car didn't overheat. Ran for only 15 mins before I shut it off...started again and white smoke. A week earlier it had a slight coolant leak...needed two thermostat hoses...fixed and all was good. drove car for about a week...another 150 miles or so no probs. No engine lights. Then one morning low coolant light on again. Drove car a few blocks and NEVER got hot..not even to normal temps. Shut off car. Started and white smoke. SHut off again and froze. No crank. Now it apparently needs a head gasket.
What should I expect to pay? assuming all else is OK? Is a used xjr motor better option? Will a 2004 engine mate up to this trans?
Thanks for your help

Blown head gasket
I'm not saying it's not the head gasket, but I would be sure of the diagnosis before going too far. A head gasket leak will not cause a "no crank" situation. If the engine will not crank over at all, there's something else amiss. If the engine is siezed up, then you probably will want to think about replacing it.

The no start is not related to the head gasket. Smoke indicates one possibly, but the no start sounds like cylinder wash. It happens on those engines. Read up on it here.
