Default Abs computer Compatibility

Two Questions:

1: I have two cars, a 2000 XJ8L and a 2000 XJ8VP. the transmission is out on the XJ8L, and I don't have the resources to repair. the Vanden Plas is fine, but it has the annoying "ABS" light and the "ASC Not Avail" message happening. I was wondering if the computer for the XJ8L would plug and play, or are there any programming in them that could cause an issue?

2: the bolt holding on the ABS computer, is a male torx bit. where can I buy the female torx bit to remove that computer?

thanks in advance!

The 2000MY XJ sedans have a choice of two ABS modules. Make sure they are both the same or you will be wasting your time with the swap.

If you want to know what the DTCs are in your module you can drive the car to Decatur in Wise County and I will read all your modules with WDS or IDS and give you a printout.

What if you replace the modules and the malfunction remains because the fault was a wheel speed link harness or something like that??

There are 5 pipe (6 valve) and 6 pipe (9 valve) modules for the 1999-2000 MY XJ/XK cars.

The tool you are looking for is an E5 Torx socket.
