ABS module swap and Christmas Tree Dash

ABS module swap and Christmas Tree Dash
My ABS module with p/n LNF2210AD was throwing codes and dealer recommended replacing it.
Thought I did everything right: I found a spare used part with the same model number: LNF2210AD, sent it to ModuleMaster for inspection/repair.
Had he dealer install it and as soon as they did, the dash lit up like a Christmas tree along with the dreaded "WRONG PART FITTED" message.
So it seems there must be software problem here as the hardware is identical.
What does it take to read the software out of one module and write it to another? I could have just repaired the original one but was trying to avoid down time and extra trips to the dealer. Too bad it didn't work out.

The dealer didn't say anything about configuring. Could it be they didn't know this was needed? Can a module be configured off the car perhaps based on VIN number?
If it needs to be done on the car, can the tech simply unplug the harness from the old module and plug the harness into the new module without actually installing the new module in the car? This way, the would know it could be configured and made compatible before they go through the steps installing it again.
I should mention that the car is a 2001 VDP super charged model and perhaps the programming is slightly different on these models than the standard XJ8/VDP units.

It's very possible the dealer tech did not know either through lack of training
through lack of familiarity with older models.
No need to unplug or access the module physically.
The procedure outlined by Bob is done through the dealer diagnostic software
tool which is plugged into the ODB-II DLC port under the right edge of the
knee pad on the driver's side.
The tech grabs the dealer diagnostic unit, plugs it in, and follows the menu as
above. Done. I'd be surprised if it took more than 10 minutes.
Print out Bob's post #3 and bring it to the dealer.
It may be arguable, but I think it is part of the module install in terms of cost.

The module can be placed behind the left headlamp and the harness plugs will reach the module. The ABS motor will need to be connected as well.
The module can usually be configured to an Identical if not VERY SIMILAR car and then fitted to the other car.
All the modules from 2000MY onward for the X308 should be JLM21323 so if the dealer won't configure it for you, you can send it to me and I will configure it to my wife's 2001 XJ8 and it should work perfectly in your car.
I also have a 1999 X308 that uses the JLM20555 so I can configure them to that car.
I don't always have access to cars that use the JLM20556, JLM20129 or JLM20130 but sometimes a customer shows up with a compatible car and I can use it to configure these.

The part numbers on the module itself ARE NOT the actual Jaguar part numbers.
If the numbers on both of your modules match, then I would guess they are the same.
I have 20 or 30 modules in boxes somewhere in my shop. I could look at the LNFxxxxx numbers on some of the JLM21323 to see what numbers are on them but I would guess that you have the correct modules.
I never paid attention to the LNFxxxxx numbers on the module cases because they don't mean anything to the Jaguar Parts Dept.

OK, I'm going to give the dealer a week to decide if they want to take on programming the module to the car. I'll give these guys the benefit of a doubt in that they probably don't see 308's much anymore these days and their techs probably don't remember the specifics about things that happen when swapping in new modules.
If they pass, I might have to take you up on your offer Bob. Really appreciate the suggestions so far.
