Default ABS success!

I have posted a few threads asking for help with various ailments to my jag, and I have successfully completed a few projects and saved a ton of money!

I got a quote for ~$4000 to replace all my ABS components from the dealership and I ended up fixing it myself using information on this site. It turns out that the only problem was that some hooligan had cut my link leads. I did some basic wiring to reconnect the wires, and I have a fully functioning ABS system with no error codes!

I was also able to track down a used antenna and motor for $45 and install it without a hitch!

I have always had mechanics do my repairs, but after the bad experience with the Chattanooga Jag dealership I am glad I turned to you guys!

Always remember, the Jag dealerships presume that any Jaguar owner is a person of considerable financial means, who would not mind dropping a few thousand here and there for repairs.

That is not always true.

There are instances where the people at a dealership have gone well out of their way to keep the cost as low as possible. Even to the point of paying the technician for clock time out of their discretionary budget. It is sometimes just a matter of attitude and presentation.

Buying automotive service is like buying any other service. Some is good, some is bad. Some places are cheaper or more expensive. But a good relationship with a vendor always smooths the experience.

I can see that this is obviously not always true, but I would warn that Jaguar of Chattqnooga is exactly like this. They tried to pressure me into ordering the expensive ABS parts immediately and completely lost interest in me as soon as I started asking questions. They seemed to take offense that I would question anything they say and not just throw money at them. It's good to know that not all dealership mechanics are like that!
