ABS-TCS Module differences

ABS-TCS Module differences
I know there are 2 distinct ABS modulator/controller units.
The earlier one marked ABS-TCS with 6 pipes and the later one marked ABS-ETCS with 5 pipes.
Just curious what the difference is? The earlier one with 6 pipes would suggest an increased level of control than the 5. Why the difference? And what's the difference between TCS and ETCS?
Cheers, J.

The 5 pipe (6 valve) is Stability Control.
The power is reduced to the rear wheels via the throttle, fuel injection cutoff and ignition retard.
The 6 pipe (9 valve) is Traction Control.
In addition to the the power reduced to the rear wheels via the throttle, fuel injection cutoff and ignition retard, TC uses individual wheel braking to stop potential spinning of a wheel.
The same system is used in the XK8 and the XK8 Intro_jjm18151470.pdf explains the basic design.(MY 1997 intro)
The JJM181512-80_1998-Xj8intro.pdf (XJ8 intro MY 1998) page 62 Braking System description refers to the earlier XK.
The ABS control module is connected to the CAN and contains software
based on that of the XK8, modified to suit the Sedan.
All models incorporate anti-lock braking and either stability control or traction control (for details see the Technical Guide, XK8 Sports Coupe and Convertible Introduction).
