Default AC barely blows

I have a 2002 XJR and have an issue with the AC not blowing hard. Even with the AC on high, I can feel the the AC lightly blowing cold air if I stick my hand up to the vent, but that's about it. Someone mentioned that I shouold replace my blower motor resistor, but I don't know where it is located. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Thanks,

Brian

I agree with bob but I have a shot of the blower resistor just so you know where they’re located.

It’s in the same location on both fans.

if you want to know where the fans are located, it’s in my post for the evaporator that I made this morning.

Your 2 fuses for :

Left fan. - # 11 / 20 amp LH heelboard fuse box

Right fan . # 11 / 20 amp RH heelboard fuse box

You can swap the relays located both in the right heelboard area , it's the 2 stacked above and below each other

See page 77

Thanks everyone! I checked the fuses in the rear heel boards and they are both in good condition. What is the best way to determine if the blower motors are inop? I took out the pocket to the left of the steering wheel to feel the driver's side blower. When I touched it, I felt very little vibration from internal components moving that. Not sure if that means it's good or bad. How do I access the passenger's side blower motor? Is it just a matter of removing the glove box?

SIMPLE!!!!!

Turn the blowers ON and then pull each fuse to see if one (or both) shut OFF!!

Before removing the right side and the glove box area swap the relays as the glove box area can be trouble putting back together and adjusting the items out to look proper alignment

Keep in mind that the blower is a high current item and as it fails ( if thats the case ) it will ruin the relay internal contacts , the nature of the beast

The X300 and X308 has a front control panel self test with codes that may give you some information

See page 110

http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Trai...des/703_SG.pdf

The codes are in this TSB , this one for the X300 as the X308 is the same Denso manufacture brand system so should be the same codes

The passenger's side blower motor isn't working. Thanks for all the help and advice y'all gave me! I ended up pulling the #11 fuse in the driver's side heel board and noticed that neither blower was running. Bob, you're advice was spot on! Now it's just a matter of looking through the JTIS manual and figuring out how to get the old blower motor out to replace it with the one that I ordered. Thanks again to all of you for the assistance.

The problem may not be in the motor but in its "resistor" which is actually an electronic motor speed controller. I would rate the probability of the controller's electronics failing as higher than the motor failing. You can test the blower motor if you disconnect the controller (4-pin connector), plug-in a wire into the socket of the loom side connector to which the ORANGE wire of the controller connects, switch the AC and the ignition "on" and touch the ground with the inserted wire. If the motor is good, it will run at full speed. The fan speed controller looks like this:
