Hi all:

My friend locked her key and fob in her trunk. Currently utilizing the valet key. What is the best way to get in? Removing the rear seat? I have downloaded the JTIS software, but can't seem to find info on how to remove the rear seat in JTIS (and if I can access the trunk this way). Or is there another way. Someone suggested running a hot wire from the fusebox and I may be able using it to trigger the trunk release mechanism, but was unsure of the particulars.

Do not remove the seat. The gas tank is behind that.

If you remove the license plate and the nylon blind nut on the right upper you can get a long thin screw driver up to the latch. A flex head flashlight like this will help.

Don't cut or break anything. It is a 20 minute job the first time. Going forward, get a spare real key. $150 at the dealer.

Thanks for the help. Will try this Sat. after work or Sunday. At least the valet key was able to start the car and drive home (after a 2 hr. drive to get to them, lol). Was afraid with the security system activated, the valet key wouldn't start the car.

Is there not a button inside to pop the boot my jag has 1 on the dash

 

If it's your only key, then you can't get in the car to pop the trunk. I did something similar once. On my car I went through a hole on the bottom left with a long narrow screwdriver and was able to pop it that way.
