Advice on 2002 XJR Purchase

Hey guys, looking at a 2002 XJR today. Vin is SAJDA15B02MF45825

Do you think that this could have the Nikasil engine? Were the tensioner issues fixed by 02? If not, how soon do you think I'd need to address? The car has under 40k miles.

It most likely does not have a Nikasil engine. That stopped with engine production in August '00. The metal tensioners began in engine production in August '01. My '02 was assembled in June '01 and came with the plastic ones. Ask a dealer to pull the engine serial number from the VIN. The first 6 digits are the date of manufacture. Anything after 010813xxxx you are OK.
