Air bag light on after seats were really trimmed
Hi my name is Sean and I am a new member to the forum I have a 1998 XJ 8 sport with a 3.2 lt engine. The car was away for the front seats to be re trimmed ever since the seats were removed then reinstalled the air bag light has been on I am having no luck with the trimmer and I was wondering if anyone would be able to offer some advice on this fault it would be greatly appreciated cheers Sean .ps I absolutely love this car

Check the connector underneath the drivers seat. The connector can come loose from its mounting clip, allowing it to hang down. Adjusting the seat position can then dislodge the connector and cause the light to come on. It could also be that they didn't reconnect it at all!
P.S - welcome to the forum!

Hi Sean,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
I see that you've found the X308 forum for your '98 XJ8 and badger2196 has given you some excellent advice.
There is one "single point sensor" under the center console. Perhaps it is more likely that the upholstery shop disturbed the connector for one of the seat belt pretensioners, which are in the B/C pillars where the seat belt ends are secured.
The trimmer should be more helpful, but it might be worth visiting a good independent Jaguar mechanic with a system capable of reading the proprietary Jaguar Body (B-prefix) diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), because any malfunction that illuminates the Air Bag warning lamp will also cause one or more B codes to be stored in memory. Knowing those codes will help narrow down the diagnosis. You can download the manual of air bag codes here:

Also, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.
Cheers,
Don
