alternator?

Ok, maybe not a sticky but good information to say the least! after week's of research, phone call's, and my own personal investigation, YES the alternator housing is EXACTLY the same from my 1998 jaguar xj8 vdp to the 2004-2008 4.2 litre v8! What does this mean? If you ever want sonething better then the stock 120 amp alternator that the 4.0 comes with you can buy a junkyard 4.2 alternator and send it to a reputible company such as Ohio generator and have it converted into a 300 amp 15volt monster with a warranty!! Yes it's expensive, but I really needed this for my sound system. 10k watt's and the stock alt. Is a disaster waiting to happen.
This information may never be needed again, but if so it's right here.. CHEERS!!!

Just figured this out by looking at pictures of the alternator bracket itself on the X308 and X350. Now I find out it was known 14 months ago
The only difference in the brackets is that the X350 uses a stud at the top mount and the X308 uses a bolt.
The X308 regulator uses internal sense, so if the X350 uses remote sense, a wire may need to be added.
edit:
Make that "will" require a wire to be added. In particular a wire to unswitched +ve for the remote sense.
At least according to the wiring diagrams for the 2001 and 2005 model years.
Remote sense is an improvement since the regulator sees true system voltage
and is usable with the old trick of biasing the system voltage with a diode to
give you that little bit more oomph in the charging system.
