Default Alternator multiplug voltage

My alternator seized while sitting so I bought a good used one (only been used for 6 weeks, looks like new)

Ive got it fitted now but not charging, could be the alternator at fault but I'm working through everything else first.

The multiplug connector was a pain to get off, I'm not sure if I'm damaged the connection.
I've popped the rubber seal out and it now definitely clicks into place, couldn't tell before.

With the ignition on, should there be any voltage at the pins? I'm not getting anything.

I can do most mechanical jobs, electrics I'm clueless

If you have a multi-meter and a set of gator clips to go with it. You can connect the clips and spin the alternator with a drill to see if your getting current. Its possible you have a bad voltage regulator?

A late FYI, you could have taken the alternator to any auto parts store and they would have bench tested it.

With the ignition on, you should have 12 volts on the middle pin of the connector. Check fuse #2 (5A) in the engine compartment large fuse box. If the fuse is good, you may have problem in the connector itself.

I think it may be the connector if there is supposed to be voltage there , the 5 amp fuse is good.

I had to really work it to get it out of the old alternator so I could have damaged it,

I'll de pin in and test the wires, bit awkward working in the little gap.

Is the suppression module on all x308s? Mine is a very early 97, don't seem to have that unless I missed it.

Seller has offered to send another alternator but if it was working on the car it came of, I'm doubtful there's anything wrong with it

I have a grey wire and a white with pink spots on the alternator, pulled the plug off and tested the wire direct, no voltage to either with ignition on, bit lost now lol

You should get 12V on the white/pink wire. With no voltage there, the alternator will not charge.

The other wire should be grey/white and it is for the charge indicator light on the instrument panel.

So yeah wiring at fault then.

The wires go back to this box, what is it?

The wire from the fuse to the alternator is initially white/grey, goes to a certain in-line 12-pin connector from which it changes to white/pink which goes to the alternator connector. Possibly problem in the 12-pin connector but I do not know where it is.

Maybe a crazy idea, I don't have much experience past normal 12v circuits,
Could I not just run a wire direct from the fuse box to the alternator to fix this bloody thing?

I am trying to figure out where I've got a bad connection though

And fixed,

Connector next to the abs pump was disconnected, 12v at the plug now, now to put it all back together

I replaced my broken alternator 3-way connector with a new one, bought it here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Lexu...oAAOSwOyJarQJ4.

This company connectors are not cheap but they are excellent quality.

I still have a problem with mine the battery Lt and battery not charging message come on
I brought a new alternator and at the battery, I get 13.98 V at 15Amps and the indicator Lt are on
Brought a new regulator just incase from Jagdaim JLM20498 and the same problem
looking at the rear of the alternator pin 1 is the top = Batter warning Lt
pin 2 in the middle = IG ignition supply 12v
Thank you for the pictures of where the wiring goes and the plugs
it seems impossible to find an electrical diagram XJ8 X308 1998
any ideas would help as I think my Lt sender wire is broken somewhere
regards Dutchy

I attach extracts from the wiring diagrams showing the alternator connections and the connection for the warning light at the instrument panel.
