AM Radio Electrical Static Noise

I am having a problem with electrical static on AM stations. It is electrical static that is audible whenever the car is moving. When I come to a stop the noise stops and re-starts as the car begins moving ( from 1 MPH on up). The static sounds like alternator static but it does not change pitch with engine speed - it is always the same pitch and the same frequency regardless of speed or RPM's.
What is really crazy that when the whole car goes over a rise or dip the noise stops and restarts when the car settles. Individual wheels going over bumps do not cause the noise to stop - as if it is sub-frame movement that makes the static stop.
I have disassembled the power antenna and checked all connections into the radio and all are clean and have good contact.
Any help on solving this is appreciated
Thank you,
