Annoying fault with auto driver's seat facility XJ8L Sovereign
It's hardly life threatening, but I have an intermittent fault with the auto driver seat pack. It normally works fine when the key is put into the ignition after opening the car: the seat comes forward and the steering wheel drops to my preferred position. The problem comes sometimes when I switch the engine off. The red light on the gear change console flashes very fast and the seat and steering wheel do not move to the exit position. Sometimes turning the key to position 2 and then back to position 0 solves the problem, other times it doesn't. Sometimes, with the red light fast flashing, the car will lock on the remote key, other times it won't.
I have cleaned the ignition barrel with contact cleaner, which seems to improve things but not permanently. Sometimes opening and closing the driver's door solves the problem, sometimes it doesn't.
Obviously an irritating electrical gremlin issue, does anyone have any pointers as to where to start looking?
