Anyone break anything under his/her car while driving over blocks of ice?
I used to live in a Boston suburb for 6 years with my X308, but I parked my car in my apartment's garage everyday, so it wasn't exposed to much winter weather. The neighborhood was nice, and the roads were plowed as the snow fell, even at 4am.
Now, I have since moved to Illinois, and the roads are rarely plowed, and hardly ever salted.
My car now often drags its "belly" on the deep snow, and frozen rocks of ice bang into the undercarriage.
My question is, how delicate are things down there? Has anyone damaged his/her car from driving over a frozen block of ice?

i hear you loud and clear......lost a muffler on a 85 xj6 years ago.......under bad road conditions.....very expensive to replace.....i now have two xj8s......i garage them both from jan-april take off insurance and don't put them back on the road until...may 1.....i use my 4 wheel drive tacoma during this time....its built for winter driving ,the cab is comfortable and high end and the sound system better than my jags.
when the weather is good we take for granted the essentially low suspension on these cars......with the ice and snow....you really have to take it slow and ride familiar roads....
