Default Anyone else had problems with the cruise and sport switches?

They work great when cold, but after the car has sat in the sun for a while, the red light comes on, despite the fact that they are in the off position. Then I futz with them a bit, and can get the light to go off. But the slightest touch and the light comes on again.

Maybe there is some dirt or goo between the buttons and the plastic surrounds that is preventing the buttons from fully springing back up. Happened on mine

Maybe a bad clock spring? Or broken solder joint to one of the switches working off it?

Had same issue with "Sport" button. Just pry off J-gate surround, and remove switches for inspection. You will see how to remove them. No need to remove the four fastening points. Sport button side tabs had loosened and it was just to clip it together. Unless tabs are broken, off course, then you will need new buttons. Several on sale on eBay.

I read another post here and resoldered blown bulbs on both buttons while I was at it.

200,000 miles on mine without any problem. My guess is bad, sticky switches. The cup holder isn't the best and might have allowed soda to spill. Order a few off ebay and have them ready for the swap when you take it apart for trouble shooting. Since
jiggling the switches has an affect, that should be the place to look. EZ to crack the
plastic so be GENTLE.

Sometimes a google search using the part numbers comes up with good leads too.
