Default Anyone had experience with General Altimaxx Sport tires?

Hey guys,

My Shabuar needs some new tires this year. I was considering a brand I have never tried before and wanted to ask here prior to buying them:

has anyone had any experience with the General Altimaxx Sport tires? The size I want is only offered by like a handfull of brands and I am not prepared to pay €1000 for a set of tires from Pirelli which are crap...

There isn't much choice here in 245/50R17...

Cheers

Damien

I tried a search to compare as you have it and they kept coming back 245/45 17 or down to 245/50 16 for those. Maybe its US thing?

How about size 235/55-17? That is 12 mm larger in diameter but there are numerous tyres available.

Nah. I want the 245/50R17 for the rims. I just don't like buying tired I have never heard much about on the car I drive.

Bad choice
The 235/55R17 outside diameter (~690mm) is too big for the x308, it will not fit without rubbing at least at the front.

But I have to agree with the above statements, do not buy oversized tires. Performance will suffer, especially if too wide, you will get more roll in cornering and would be a safety issue for the sidewall and bead adhere.

Notes taken BUT the tire size is actually smaller than what can be fitted. They are going on 8x17" Jaguar Sport rims (the 5 spoked rims from the X300R) and they can have wider or taller walls...
