my 95 vdp had them and I tried to have them installed in my 98 -- I was told that it would require relays because of the lamp module and they would not warranty the setup -- I believe one side has the wires. I do not think any of the US x308's had the lamps

It only really requires relays on the X308 if you want them to act as both running lights *and* flash. That setup requires 2 relays per side, as well as a bunch of protective diodes. Otherwise, they can be tied into the front turn signals. If you use LED's instead of the incandescent 194/168 the extra draw is nominal.

My memory is ... they were turns only....... I believe only one bulb. I really liked them and the absolutely worked when you wanted to change lanes -- very easy for other drivers to see.
Plums -- With the advent of LED's I bet this would be an easy retrofit today. Evidently the small bulb (168's ?) were enough of a draw on the module to cause problems back in 1998.

The only concern with running the incandescent in combined running/signal lamp mode is the small air volume available for heat dissipation in continuous usage. In signal lamp only mode, it would not be a problem at all.
The shop probably just did not want to do it and came up with some plausible reasons to get you to back down.
Running the side lamps in combined mode makes the car more visible at all times, and still retains the benefits of signaling coming out of driveways as well as for lane changes and when the car is seen at an oblique angle.
There is also a high mounted brake light flasher module awaiting install
There are now even more dimwits with their heads down attending to their phones today than in 1998.

Not worth worrying about, just tie it into the existing turn signals. That will involve pulling back the wheel arch liner to install the wiring as well as fishing the wires through to the turn signals. Think coat hanger and electrical tape.
New ones will come with the bulb holder and bulb.
They are known as "directional repeaters" when searching on ebay.co.uk
The going price is about $25 each or a bit less.

the reason I asked this was b/c I recently bought an XJR100 and would like to know if it was anyones from the forum. It has the side marker turn signals so I figure its some enthusiast that installed them and is on the forum. Car originally came from Florida and in 2007, it went to Las Vegas but somehow ended up in Connecticut
