My ashtray lid has a huge gap, or sits crooked on the driver's side compared to the rights side, or passenger's side when it's shut. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Does anyone have a suggestion for a fix for this? Thank you

The Ashtray lid mechanism operates on two plastic toothed wheels (arrowed in red):



It sounds like one of these may be loose or stripped. They are secured by three torx screws either side (circled in red).



No option other than to follow Jim's procedure in post #2 for removing the ashtray assembly to be able to investigate.
