Hi All,
I've not been here for while & forgot what a good community this is!
Here's my problem... The premium sound system in my 99 XJR8 keeps changing tone by its self. (ie: from normal, say a mid-base listening setting to quite tinny).
At times it seems related to speed if that's possible. However, the AVC is set to off.
Has anyone experianced this before? Did you find the problem / cure?
I'm not sure whether to start by replacing the headend unit or power amp???
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Regards
Chris

Same thing happens to mine as well. 98 XJR w/ the Harrman Kardon stereo. If I'm listening to something at a certain level and I accelerate the volume increases, if I decelerate the volume decreases same as when I roll down the window, the volume decreases. My buddy who's a tech at MB said something about the stereo operating under pressure? He said something about cabin pressure changing and the stereo pressure sensor? gets all out of whack. It makes sense from what you and I are experiencing.
He also said when it happens on some MB's in serious cases, that the stereo gets SO out of whack that it will turn up to max volume out of nowhere and end up blowing speakers as well as scaring the crap out of the owner.
