Bad Kitty (power steering hose)

So, just as I had several international visitors to shepherd around Washington DC, all of whom wanted to ride in the VDP, as is typically the case an ugly problem reared its head. At the bottom of an underground garage ramp headed in to park for the day I felt non-existent steering trying to round a tight corner. I opened the hood, shone my flashlight into the PS reservior, and I swear light came on the garage floor. There in the beam was the high-pressure PS hose, dangling loose below the pump connection with the garage floor sporting about a pint of PS fluid. Waiting for the tow I became proficient at traffic control as I was partly blocking the entry to a busy garage!
I sent my guests on their way with directions on how to meet up with a colleague of mine for the start of the day’s touring, my insurer sent a roll-back whose driver manhandled the steering to get the car reversed and outside where he could secure it, and off I went to rescue the remainder of the day and plot a taxi home at day’s end. Good KItty will get a new hose Monday and my visitors, who’d already had a long drive in the car marveling at its charms, were very understanding. I explained if you own a 22-year-old car, this happens occasionally. I have a Prius to fall back on for the rest of their visit.
Ah, the joys of Jag ownership.

If this duplicates a prior response to RandyS, my apologies: Yes, GUD KITY (vanity tag) similarly gets lots of admiring looks, curious stares and comments as well. Several folks asked if I needed help while waiting for the truck and several offered nice comments. I could have sworn one was Liz Cheney or a near look-alike as she surveyed the stranded beast while exiting. (DC is a very small town.)

Just to close this: My garage found the metal hose crimp where the hose joins what I think is the fastener that attaches to the bottom of the pump failed and separated. Although the hose was replaced 15 months ago along with the pump, they made it a warranty item. All I had to pay was $16.61 for fluids. If only all Jag tales of woe were so easily resolved.
Good Kitty is home and ready to roam again.
Cheers.
