That super 8 of yours looks freakishly amazing!
I'm gunna be in ATL this week, but maybe after I get back we could plan something. I might have to pick your brain about local mechanics. I need to get my passenger side engine mount replaced.
Actually that's the only real negative thing I hear people say about jag owners... that we must be crazy for buying them because of maintenance costs.

or a Merciless Binge! ;o]
The latest breed of Jaguars and especially our 308's are among the cheapest of their type to own and run.
All you need to do is a little research to keep on top of prices.

Anybody remember the TV series called "The Equalizer", starring Edward Woodward....ex army Commando turmned bad guy chaser who drove a Ser.111 XJ6....may have had some influence.
Most of the filming sequences were at night and you mostly saw the car in reflective silhouette
wich dramatised the car.

I think Bond films promote it too. Bond drives a variety, but I don't recall him in a jag. Seems like the baddy is always in one.....wait, I take that back. "M" was being chauffeured in an XJ in the last one.
But I don't know if M counts as one of the bad guys or not...... (If so, Judy Dench is my favorite "bad guy" and I still want the current XJ when the very nice first owner has soaked up most of the depreciation.

Some comments...
I remember when they first came out I got a hold of a dealer's brochure; I'd never get tired of looking at it and dreaming... that was back when the Jaguar brochures made sense and the pictures showed the necessary detail. Car design trend in those years was about straight lines and sharp angles everywhere, but the exception was the Jaguar sedan with its soft angles and perfectly sculptured, semi-curving body lines. Unfortunately, that was also the time when Jaguar cars' reliability was hitting rock bottom here in the US, which was the reason why sales didn't follow accordingly with the car's beauty.
In regards to performance, it is truly amazing how different the approach and technology were back in those days, especially when compared to today's Jaguars. The record has it that the early 80's Series III XJ6 was only capable to reach 60 mph in 12.2 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 19 seconds, truly numbers that are closer to those of the VW bus, no less... And, amazingly enough and according to my source, those 12.2 seconds on the 0 to 60 were matched by the 2011 XJ Supersport, not on the 0 to 60, but rather on the 1/4 mile....oh man!

wow...
never experienced any of this.
we have an 03 xj8.. i always liked them, i love the xk's.... sexy cars..
my wife always wanted a 308.. so i bought one for her....
we occasionally get comments on the car, i get a lot of " are you insane... really a jag... it ill break you with maintenance..."...
It has been a good car.. hard to repair when something goes out...
we have an 02 range rover 4.5 hse and an 87 porsche. we get more comment on those than the jag. I love the jag, dont get me wrong... it is a great car, a GREAT bargain for the money

Actually, pretty sure they drove an X300 in the Green Hornet movie...
Anyway - I haven't owned the car long enough for people to comment that I'm a "bad person" driving it, but, I certainly FELT like a bad person when I drove the black on black x308 xjr...
Getting out of that thing always felt like I was on my way to do something sinister. Probably ruined my "street cred" when I'd immediately pull out a terry cloth and wipe down some odd smudge I picked up on the way though. Looked brilliant, but was CONSTANTLY needing attention to keep it clean.
The quartz isn't quite as "evil" looking. Still sharp, still nice, but lacks the "he's inside robbing the place" look of the blk/blk.

On the right, the MK10 owner by Angus Sibbet in which he was found dead - shot three times at close range. On the left, the E-Type belonging to one of the men convicted of his murder.
The damage to the front of the MK10 and the rear of the E-Type occurring when they collided.
