Great thread. I have the new sleeve, o-ring, and lock ring to install on my ‘03 STR. With a mirror I can see the o-ring in the existing brass barrel. Not easy to access and remove. Any hints? (I’m guessing most leave the existing brass barrel in place and replace the o-ring and lock. ). If not, I need more hints on how to remove the brass barrel!

Millarjs, first and foremost your S-Type R is an X200, this is the X308 section. Secondly you’ll just use the o ring and plastic clip only. Just make sure all the broken pieces are out of the brass insert when you go to reinstall the new ones. Lastly, I have replaced those pieces on those cars before with that engine. If you aren’t sure, I would replace **all of** the coolant hoses under the supercharger, the EGR coolant hoses, the throttle body coolant hoses, the bypass hose in front of the charger and the base o rings under that bypass hose along with your vacuum brake booster pieces. In my experience, getting that booster hose out without breaking it is a real pain! I would do a one and done with that situation if I were you.

Addicted2boost - thank you,
Not sure how I crossed forums but thought I was in X200. Problem seems to cross forums also.
I have changed the hoses under supercharger but found i need to upgrade things around the throttle body. I did rebuild the blower and the leaking fuel rains underneath,
The Booster vacuum hose and others are being replaced. The fitting of the booster vacuum house to the throttle body is a pain but I have the parts and will follow your advice.
Thanks again

My solution to this problem was to replace the plastic retainer and O-ring with a -6AN male thread fitting with a 5/16 hose barb. I left the brass fitting in place and tapped it to the male threads (I forget what the size was but you can match it up), put an O-ring on and screwed it in. I was a little concerned that tightening it down would pull out the brass fitting, but it held. A two-inch piece of 5/15 fuel or vacuum line now connects the two. Now, instead of messing with trying to get the hose out of the intake elbow, I just undo a clamp. I also got tired of the other side of the intake elbow where the part-load breather connects with the Norma fitting. I cut off what was left of the outer ring of the Norma fitting, put a 1/2 hose with a 30 degree bend on the intake, inserted a 7/16 hose flush with the end of 1/2 hose, and the nipple from the Norma fitting fits perfectly in there. Another "undo a clamp" and I'm done.

In my case I got the brake pipe and plastic fitting out undamaged, the O ring was hard and crumbled into pieces. After a bit of experimentation the replacement O ring size is 8mm ID x 13mm OD x 2.5mm thick. Got 5 off ebay for $3.50.
Fiddly to get in but is a nice tight fit on the brake pipe now
