Default Brake judder

My 2001xj8 vdp has developed judder on braking so I'm figuring the front rotors will need skimming or replacing. Might be time for new pads as well.
My question is: Is there any reason not to take it to a standard brake shop like Firestone or Meinecke?
I'm not looking for anything special - just standard rotors and pads - and I'd prefer not do it myself.
I read on the forum that a lot of people complain about excessive brake dust. My experience is different - I actually get very little brake dust.
I'm almost worried that it's not excessive!!!!!!
Anyone else not have an issue with brake dust? My current pads are mintex and the brakes work fine apart from the recent judder.
Thanks for any input.

these cars are known to be picky about rotors, oem Jaguar brake discs are matched together in pairs which should theoretically minimize the shimmying issue.

that being said I am no expert on the brake situation for this car, the only brake adjustments I have ever conducted on my XJR was new pads, EBC redstuff, which are ceramic and produce very minimal dust

I don't see why a random shop couldn't handle the brake job, but it could be a good call to use a place that has a pro-cut machine to turn your current rotors most effectively if you decide to get your rotors turned and then new pads

read more about shimmying and correcting it: How to Correct vibration with Pro Cut Lathe | EBC Brakes

good luck

Thank you xjr02 -very useful advice. I think the local place has a procut but I'll check with them first.

I replaced my front and rear pads about a thousand miles ago. On the front I had the rotors turned (O'reilly's) and installed ceramic pads. They brake very well and no dust(minimal). The rear I installed oem pads. Everything is fine, smooth braking no shudder. I also had the front end realigned and the tires balanced and rotated.
