Default Brake line broke...

Today i was driving ,hit the brake pedal and pushed it to the floor

The brake pressure was completely gone!! luckely there was no other traffic
and i got it to a stop pumping the brake and with the help of the parking brake....

After some inspection i saw the front left brake line broke .

The leak is at the end of the brakeline {caliper side} ,where it meets the fitting .

How it broke ? it probably got wrong service in the past
when a mechanic dont support the calipers and let them hang on the brakeline...when he change the pads or disc .

I try to order the brakeline tomorrow anyone know the R performance stainless brakeline for Brembo is still available /numbers ?

When i have the new brakeline fitted are there any special bleed procedures ?.

Regards Roy

If you remove your existing piece of brake line and take it to any shop that routinely works on brake systems they should be able to make one up for you.

Based on your photo I'm gathering that the leak is at the end of a high pressure stainless braided hose where the fitting was crimped (for lack of a better term) on to the flex hose. This can happen with age, even if the line has never been abused.

Search your area for a brake shop that makes DOT3 compliant custom hoses and/or custom bent "hard" lines. One in my area is Hensley's Radiator, which obviously does more than radiators!!

Isn't it amazing that among the myriad things these cars are set up to self-monitor that brake pressure isn't one of them!! I had an experience very similar to yours where one of my flex lines was cut (long story, but not deliberate) and the pedal sunk to the floor. Thank God I was somewhere where I could glide off the road and park the car!! The experience was unsettling, to say the least, as was finding out this could occur without any warning from the car's own monitoring system.

Hell!....for less than that price you could buy a whole new set of hoses from Goodridge
Full braided stainless hoses and fittings to directly fit your model.

It looks like they are already braided? Do they come like that with the Brembo package?

If you're going to go the route of replacing a line or your full set of flex lines, definitely take the time, and little bit of additional money, to get a set of PTFE (Teflon) core hoses.

Most of the aging on brake hoses, particularly those protected on the outside by braiding and a plastic insulation over that, comes on the inside from the slow reaction between the brake fluid and the hose itself. PTFE is chemically inert and eliminates this sort of aging. It also results in a hose that has a "virtually perpetual" service life.

The dealer had them by monday

Today i found a Goodridge distributer overhere in The Netherlands..

Went for a 50 mile drive and they made a PTFE Goodridge hose with the exact specification like the Factory Goodridge hose {factory stamp said it was made in 2001}.

The shop ask me $30 for the hose

Think i might get me a whole new set front and back with the red or dark green hoses ...
