How do JLM21917 pads compare to JLM1829 pads? I had ordered the JLM1829 pads from a reputable dealer, but was supplied a set of JLM21917 pads in its place. When I had called the parts dealer to ask, they simply said that the JLM21917 pads have superseded the JLM1829 ones. Is this true? or should I send them back?
Thanks

Part supercessions happen all the time and that's what you have. I have not ordered or been around to see if the 1829's are still available. I would recommend looking at the backing and seeing if there is a sticky backing. That is what the 1829's were good for. The MJE pads didn't have the sticky back. Either pad set ended up squeaking during their useful life and I think Jag and Jurid were trying to solve it. You may have the end result of all that hard work with the pads you received. I don't know for sure. It looks like the 21917 was intended for the 02-03 XJ and 02 XK. I would think they will fit your car.

Thanks, the pads fit fine. there was a backing plate though it was not sticky. The mechanic who installed it did put a compound on the back of the pads anyways and did use the synthetic caliper grease.
