Default Brake switch fix

My cruise control started to ignore me lately and dash flashed orange error light at me from time to time, clearly my brake switch was about to give up on his life
The new switches are available around but piece is quite simple and i thought repair is better option, the original cherry microswitch isn't easily available so with a bit of checking i found out omron D2HW-A211D (ebay) will do the job nicely, other than need for bending arm tip and being a hinge while original cherry was leaf arm type it was a straight replacement
One month on, error is gone cruise is back on
Hope it helps

Outstanding job, xjack. The Omron switches are available at DigiKey, part number D2HW-A211D-ND, for $2.96 each as of this writing.

I found that it is possible to remove the spring lever from the original switches, by prying them up gently with a small screwdriver where they are inserted into the housing.
Similarly, the hinge lever can be removed from the new Omron switches by using an X-Acto knife to ease them off the molded pins in the housing.
Then one can transfer the spring levers onto the new switches by simply pressing them into the slots that are already present in the Omron body. Very convenient.

Here's the final result. Works great.

Definitely you brought this repair to the next level, such modded switch is as good as the original, by the way i'm really grateful for jaguar not sealing this thing for life and leaving it open for diy fixers, mine is few thousand km older, is absolutely fine and rather won't bother me in the next many years.
