Brembo Silverstone or AP Racing brakes?
Hi and thank for having this forum :-)
My 2000 XKR is optionally factory equipped with Brembo brakes simular to the ones used on the Silverstone Edition in 2001.(4 pistons) Front calipers was now in need for refurbishment, and as the car is my daily driver (24000km last 12 months) I bought a pair of calipers from a wreckyard that would fit my rotors and spindels. The thought was to only drive these calipers as my Brembo's was under refurbishing, but the temporary calipers showed up to be AP Racing 6 piston calipers........So now I've started wondering if these actually might be better than the Brembo "Silverstone" calipers and that I just should keep the AP's on the car........
Anyone feel for giving me advice on the matter?

Its also important to keep the right front and rear brake bias, ie enhancing the front but not the rear, can have negative effect on different braking situations and can also increase your stopping power.
This Was very noticeable on my car when I played with different brake pads in front and rear, so imo better to have a matching front/rear brake setup.

Thanks for the tip Avos, good point. I checked with the dismantler but the rear calipers was gone.....dont'n know if they were AP's anyway.
I'll do at brake test at a work shop and check it out, if necessary I hopefully can adjust brake power ratio front/rear by using different pads at the rear.
Interesting output you got from your engine....:-) Did you have to upgrade the Merc transmission, drivetrain etc to handle the extra forces or was i strong enough as it was?

Am driving now with Pagid RST-3 (used to be RS15), pads, that overall improves the bite (and only gets better if hotter), yet still leaves the brake bias more like stock.

But I wouldn't know what pads you should choose to improve the rear compared to the front, that will take some experiments I guess.
So far there is no need to upgrade the MB box (not even the torque converter), so for street driving it has proven to hold, but for track driving it might be a different story (so constant loads for long durations, or on the German Autobahn).

Contact AP for their suggested street pad - the jump to English racing brakes means the compounds offered are aggressive, far too much for street, you'll get squeal and disc wear if fitting a track pad.
AP
Pagid
Ferodo
Mintex
Akibono
Should all make pads for the calipers, you want a fast road compound, no more.
The rear I wouldn't worry, just fit oem pads, there's no issue with brake bias with the ABS fitted to these cars with 1.8 tons behind them, on a 600kg open wheel formula car, yes.
