Default A/C capacity. volume vs. weight 1998 XJ8L

I've been on this site numerous times for information that I'd have to say has been VERY useful. I recently replaced my engine in my 1998 XJ8L that overheated (old style water pump failure). Its runnin perfect... Did it myself and I have to say it was the easiest swap ive ever done.. expensive, but easy. I'm havin issues w/ the A/C now. I've done several systems myself with success and CANNOT get this one right. I have Mitchell OnDemand and it says I need 44ish oz of freon. The lable on the radiator support says 1LB 8oz. The little cans you get at the auto store say Net Wt 12oz. My issue is im having trouble tryin to figure out if theyre talkin liquid volume or actual weight. Theyre different right? I jumped the compressor via the red wire w/ stripes above the right bank harness, and got it goin. I pumped in 2 cans of 12oz freon, and my gauges read 30 Low, 200 High. Put another can, and read about the same. Did the code thing on the climate control and got a 23 i think.. said I didnt have enough freon basically... My question is how many freakin cans of 12oz 134a go into this car?? I realize that its almost winter here in the northeast, but I'm canadian, and anything above 40 is still hot to me! Any help would be great

youre over charged! its 1 1/2 12oz cans 1 pound 8 ounces go have it sucked down to empty at a shop with a recovery machine so you dont add to careless freon release to the atmosphere and have them recharge it to the correct weight

I thought there were 16oz in a lb? Wouldnt 1 1/2 cans be 18oz, or 1 lb 2 oz? I appreciate your response, but I dont think you fully answered my ?!!

No I understood your question, but if you look at the time of my post 11pm, and 5 beers later after work
my math was skewed, you are correct. you need a total of 24oz +/- 2 oz, or 2 12oz cans. I dont think cans at work. I punch in 1.8pounds of freon into the machine and press start....

Default 1998 xj8L Stalling issue

I've researched the forum and saw a few questions and answers, but most of the responses were not answers, just more questions. It seems that this is a common issue w/ this car. I've gone through the whole TSB 303-43 thing and still have not fixed it. It seems to happen less since I've done repairs, but when it does happen its usually not in a good place. It seems to happen only in "S" mode AND while making sharp turns. It almost always happens on an exit ramp by my house. Its a 90deg turn, and partway through said turn, she cuts out. I put it in neutral, and restart it and drive along. I try to avoid this exit now. It seems there are a WHOLE lot of jaguars w/ this same problem.. Someone has had to figured it out by now... BTW, its my second Throttle body, i replaced all the plastic hoses, replaced plugs, cleaned out hole on right bank w/ drill bit.... What else could it be?

WOOPS! I meant to start a new posting!
