Default Cats rear shock bushes

The rear shock bushes on my 98 xjr with cats are bad,
Can they be replaced without buying a new shock?

I actually feel like redoing all the bushes front and rear, is there a list of all the bushes i would need?

Here's a thread with an exploded view..... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...4/#post1873271 ....and yes you can replace them. As stated in that thread, be sure to do the dampers also. Do a Search and you'll get plenty of threads to review.

Yes, top are just foam style bushings, the lower is a metal spherical joint that can be pressed out and replaced.

Practice pushing the bad bushes in and out of a shock a couple times before trying to press in the new bushes and find a system that works (Like a socket or pipe of the correct diameter). They are easy to screw up when pressing.

Good advice. If you carefully remove the rubber dust covers you should be able to find a socket that fits over the inner shaft and rests on the outer race. You will also see the inner shaft is pressed into the bushing from one end, that is the end you want to push against when installing as the outer race on the other end has a beveled edge to aid installation. This probably doesn't make much sense, but it will when you look at a new bushing.

When the lower bushes are removed, you can disassemble the old bushing and use its outer race to press the new bushing into place. And +1 on removing the dust boot prior installing the new bushing.
