Default cd changer

2000 xj8 vanden plas with upgraded alpine stereo system. does anybody know of a head unit that will plug up and control the factory cd changer and wiring?

Unfortunately, none. If you stick with the factory CD player, you are also stuck with the factory head unit.

well that's bullshit...i dont mind the factory head unit, but i like the all in one stereo and navigation...but the newest navigation DVD for the xj8s is 2003...that doesnt help me.

looks like i'll just upgrade the whole system...oh well. thanks!

That is easier said than done. Check out the threads form the guys who have been building their own fascia adapters to mount a DIN radio in the factory spot. There is not aftermarket support for these. Period.

If you really want nav, the far easier option is to get a Garmin Nuvi - put it on your windshield, and be happy.

yeah, i realize it's a project and a half...garmins are pretty slick, but i would want to find a way to power it without the cigarette lighter...

that is on my to do list. There are power points under each reat seat according to the manual. I may tap in there, then run an extension under the dash and keep it plugged in there.

Even easier you can run power from your fuse box and hard wire it for your navi unit.
