CD stuck in changer...HELP
Listening to some CD's yesterday in my '01 XJ and push the select button for a new CD. Got an error msg! Checked the trunk when back the garage and find the CD tried to transfer, but didn't go all the way in. I can see about an inch of the CD still in the carrier. I don't know how it happened, but I don't see a way to access the stuck CD to either push it all the way in or get it back in position. Anyone?

I hope the pros will weigh in as I'm not terribly technical and I'm happy to be corrected by someone with better knowledge. However, this has happened to me, and it's a royal pain. Problem is, I can't recall exactly how I got the offending CD back into place to eject the cassette. Fortunately, I had a second CD case so once I ultimately solved the problem I swapped cases and don't have the issue.
I think I took an extremely thin, short screw driver and carefully scooted the offending plastic CD carrier to the left back into its retracted position through the small opening between the cassette on the left and the player mechanism on the right. If it works, great, and while you may have inadvertently scratched the CD, it can likely be replaced. I would suspect that the worst case is to remove the CD player, take off the cover and get the CD shifted back into the case, but that's a lot of hassle to move a CD about an inch or two.
Once done, you might just insert a single, replaceable CD in the one of the six holders that was affected by the problem and see if it replicates. Switching out the order of the holders within the case might also be in order, or finding another cassette, In my case, I saved the cassette from my deceased '06 and there was one in the '03 that is now my current ride. I believe the one I’m using now came out of the ‘06.

I have been fighting for a same issue with my cd changer. Always the same issue. Cd either wont load or eject back to the magazine. I've take it apart many times. There is one small dc motor what does many jobs. It pulls cd's in and pushes them out. It raises cd platform upwards and lowers the upper cd spindle down. But what causes this is something inside pull/push mechanism sticks sometimes so badly that the dc motor jumps between a two gears. I have cleaned and greased pretty much all of the moving parts and it still is acting up very often.
