Default Center clock vent removal problem,help

Weekend project failed!

Trying replace the cracked center clock vent as wood trim on the vent is loose due to the cracking on the mounting point.

it now I am stuck. I realize I need to remove also both right and left panels as the center vent is wider than wood trim.

Like the center panel, the left panel (speedo/tach etc) just pulls off, held by snap clips, same with the right panel (passenger air bag), but, becasue it contains the passenger air bag and its associated electronics I'm pretty sure you have to use some caution, like disconnect the battery overnight (others may know more/better than me). The right side is also much more difficult to remove due to the contents behind it, but if I remember correctly you can pull it out far enough to access the center clock fascia screws.

Once again Jaguar could/should have designed this so that you don't have to remove all three panels just to access one of them!

I've done it twice. Each time, I just left the negative cable disconnected for 10 minutes. Take your time when prying on the passenger side wood grain. You should see a metal tab. I pried on that, for the passenger side. No need to take it out fully.

it's just like the infamous plastic
I'm going to give up. Will bring the car to the mechanic on Monday

my mechanic fix it for me today it's a $70 mistake
