Default charging grounding crankshaft seal

Dear friends, enlighten me here.

So I had my '00 XJR serviced to replace the crankshaft seal due to oil leaking, and afterwards the car starts to act funny. Seems charging has become problematic (Battery reads 12.48V, with engine running only 12.66-12.68V), and the interior lights and instruments will sometimes dim and flash. One time the car seems to have gotten into Failsafe mode, but no warning lights were present.

My question is, could the mechanic fail to reinstall some grounding circuits? Is there any grounding wires or alternator circuit involved when removing the transmission to do the crankshaft seal job? Sorry I don't have full jack-up facility to find out..

Many thanks.

Sounds plausible, and the fail-safe mode was probably the result of a lowered voltage.
Check your engine ground strap, they probably forgot, or it disappeared all together.
Should be able to reach it with the car jacked up, don't forget to throw a jack-stand under it before you craw under it.

The braided wire earth lead (GROUND STRAP) is bolted on the body and bell housing.

PAS pipe rubs through back of alternator causing lots of problems.
Bend it out of the way.

Ok guys, update. All grounding was intact, it turns out there are two probable culprits: 1. the battery disconnector I have installed before had a slightly lose contact, and/or 2. the main fuse inside the small box behind the spare tire coming a bit lose on the bolt! Correcting these two variables and things are back to normal. How odd the bold fixing the main fuse would come lose though is beyond me. However what MelhookV12 suggested about the PAS pipe got my attention. I shall look into that as well. Thanks everyone, and hope my experience may contribute to the knowledge of these cars, that sometimes it ain't that complicated.
