Gentlemen:
I had an intermittent abs light it would come and go. So today decided to wash the car and while I was at it decided to wash the engine. Well now I have an engine light , had a restrictive performance message but that went away after driving about 8 min. still have abs light, and engine light.
Diconnected battery for about 1 min. started car still have the above messages. So I'm leaving it for the night will try in the morning.
Any ideas?
Used to wash my 99 xjr never had a problem. Maybe I should have left well enough alone but when you're OCD you just CAN'T help it !!!LOL.
Thanks

First off, pull the codes from the OBD connection - if you need to learn about this, use the search function on here.
A battery disconnect won't get rid of lights, until a number of start cycles have completed without codes reported.
how did you go about washing your engine? it could be water in an electrical connection, around the throttle body or maf sensor etc etc. try disconnecting the wiring junctions you can see and squirt wd40 in to expel any moisture.
The ABS light, could be a wheel sensor connection or sensor itself dirty. the fronts are easier to clean than the rears. check all four for muck/debris and the connections, again a bit of wd40.
Not much else I can suggest without knowing what codes the car has reported.

Thanks Sean everything dried out, all lights gone except abs trac etc. will try cleaning wheel sensors.
Boy I miss the old Jags e.g. Mk IX, MK X. Plugs, points and condensors no engine management, traction, ac/heat and who knows what else computer.
Once again,
Thanks.
