Check Engine Light: Code P0455

Check Engine Light: Code P0455
I had a check engine light, and a code on the dash to check gas cap. I replaced the gas cap, and had the code reset, but it came back before the end of a tank of fuel. I took it to a mechanic who replaced the purge solenoid, but later the code returned again. A different mechanic found that the problem was a pinched o-ring in the purge valve itself. Classic example of a ten cent part costing hundreds of dollars of parts & labor.
Anyway, it has been a few months, and no more check engine light.

Purge Valve
The purge valve can be seen from below the car, just ahead of the rear axle on the driver's side. There is also a metal tube that rusts out, and it goes from the driver's side of the axle to the passenger side. Since the leak could be the valve, the o-ring, the tube, etc, the technician should do a leak test using smoke to find the leak. I hope this helps!

Hi
Look at this emissions evaporator system with part numbers and diagrams:

The Purge Valve is located in the engine bay near the firewall, behind the Throttle Body. I went out and pulled the rear covers in the engine bay to check it out just a few minutes ago.
Maybe you mean the Charcoal Canisters, One of them is on the driver side before the rear axle. There is a Purge outlet pipe that runs from the Purge Valve in the engine bay back to the Charcoal Canister on the driver side.
There is also the Vapor pipe that connects the Charcoal Canister on the driver side to the other one on the passenger side. Then there the Vapor Pipe to the Canister that runs from the Charcoal Canister on the driver side to the Pressure Control Valve located next to the fuel tank.
Look at the diagrams and their associated reference tables in the Emissions Evaporator System PDF files in the thread weblink above.
