KBB has it at $21,714 retail and $19,514 private party sale.
Why do you say it is overpriced at $13,900? Seems like a nice car.
(I am looking for one for my wife, that is why I am asking so many questions in this thread.)

Hi Vector,
This is what I found when I "Googled" the VIN.
Salvage JAGUAR SUPER V8 2003 for sale, vin: SAJDA25B13MF52256 in MARTINEZ, CA, 94553, USA, color: BLUE, price: 3200.00
Does not sound to bad but states it's salvage.
Hope this helps.

At this price point, there are MANY choices out there when it comes to lux car market. And the makes/models that don't carry the Jag reputation. General public is VERY MUCH biased against the Jag, and that shrinks the potential pool of the prospective buyers (demand is LOW!). The realistic price this would sell for (providing that the title IS NOT salvage!), would be around 10K (a little below perhaps).

Wholesale: $12,500 + $5k for miles add
Retail: $16095 +$5k for miles add
In old days, dealers did not add for miles when taking a car in (but sure as heck added for them when selling) Today with used car inventory tight, low mileage cars get the benefit of mile add. If this was clean titled car, I'd trade in value would be somewhere around $15k (given that everything else on the car is perfect, nothing else needed except maybe for an LOF). Salvage title cuts those values by by 40-50 percent.
I read the link to this car and it made it sound like the car was totaled due to scratches throughout. Very doubtful, unless the owner was a high profile client with insurance company (such as AIG's Premiere Group) and insisted that the car be declared a total loss due to sratches all around. But that's just speculating.
BTW, you cannot "de-salvage" any vehicle. Some sellers resort to title washing, where a vehicle is subsequently registered in several states that do not recognize salvage title, and then register it with a "washed" title in a state that does recognize salvage.

Not sure what condition this Super V8 Jaguar is in.
See the photos of this particular one on this website:
Chug - Used 2003 Jaguar XJ 4dr Sdn VDP Supercharged - SAJDA25B13MF52256
Sure does not look like there are any dents or scrathes on it.
Almost 60 photos of this car - everything looks almost new and very clean including the engine compartment????

That car was posted here several months ago. I looked at "salvaged car" link posted in this thread and it read "scratches". Why else was car salvaged? Flood vehicle? In a fire area, interior filled with smoke? The advertised price is super cheap for a Clean Titled car.

OK,.....as a former car dealership owner I am TOTALLY biased.
So,...the question to the open forum (and we are all Jag enthusiasts here, not the general public!!)..... Would you pay between 16K- 20K for THIS car??
Or the asking price?
If YOU would,.....go for it. I'm staying away. But I am not the "average Mr. Joe Public", and I am not the average "enthusiast" either.
Still looking for a "gem". One owner 2002-2003 XJR in silver or black, with less than 100K on the clock (cash in hand).

I agree about the salvage identification. I think it was an error on the auction company's listing. I have seen lots of ads and photos for this car and only mention of salvage is one listing and the photos look great.
BTW, I looked for my current XJR for three years and when I found a perfect, one owner, low mileage car, I paid top dollar for it.
I had looked at way to many cars that had been under-maintained and/or generously described in the for sale listings. Lots of "clean car fax" cars that had obviously been in accidents, abused and trashed.
I went to look at one described as "perfect, like new." The paint looked good but it was a rust bucket underneath with a trashed interior. I saw or had inspected lots of cars like that.
And what I discovered is that while you wait for a perfect, super cheap car, someone else (like me) buys the cream puff for a couple thousand more and takes it off the market.
It is still true today that most of the time you get what you pay for.
This car is fairly priced unless it is salvage, which I don't think it is.
I emailed the seller to ask about the salvage issue, we'll see what they say.

"This car is not salvage, nor ever salvage. That is a feeder website, that does not have the car for sale, but just pulling inventory. It is kinda of a scam. I have complained to this site to take it down.
It is a very nice car, and you are free to have it inspected.

I just ran a C/F and Autocheck. There is no record of any title brand on this car. The car started its life in California, then made its way to Nevada and landed in Milwaukie, Oregon.
BTW, the real value of a vehicle is what someone is willing to pay for it. I do agree, however, that it is overpriced.
