Default Chrome trims: replace or paint

I have a XJR 2002 with the "standard" black window trims. I never really liked this and would prefer to have chrome ones.
I am considering have the black trims chromed. Chrome parts seem to be hard to get and expensive.

1. If I remove the trims, will I be able to put them back? Someone once told me that the placeholders might break in the process. (My car does not have any rust at all).
2. Does anyone have experience with turning the black trims into chrome? (I would prefer chrome spray over chrome plating as it is cheaper, faster and more environmental friendly).

Thanks!

(By the way: if anyone would be interested in swapping black trims against chrome ones: let me know)

Not sure spraying would get you the gleam or the longevity you'd like on an exterior piece. I'd look around for good shape used units' on e-Bay etc. I often see complete sets up there @ a fair price. Yes it's a very simple install/removal just be careful the clips/holders are indeed brittle over time.

My X300 Sport had the black OE window trims. I was suprised to find the matt black paint was applied over the standard bright trim. Worth a check to see if the X308 is done the same way.

@GGG: Looked at a little scratch I have. You maybe right but I am not sure.

@King Charles: Spray on chrome costs near to nothing. You maybe right but I think there is no harm in giving it a go. However I will check what it would cost to get the parts chrome plated. I am sure it will have a better effect. Plus it saves me the work

Does anyone know if the glass from the rear side window can be removed?

Also not sure how much chrome I would put on.
Option a:
- leave the grill and trunk trims in body color.
- only add chrome trims "around" the windows (maybe hard to find/do the quarter glasses since they are in 1 piece.
Option b:
- All chrome...

What do you think?

Ahhh. My car is blue...
