Code P0743 Torque Converter Solenoid, but no trans symptoms
I am getting code P0743 "Torque Converter Solenoid Electrical" along with a transmission fault warning on the dash.
There is no noticeable problem in how the transmission is operating. Of the many problems I am having with the car, nothing obvious from the transmission except the warning light.
I imagine the solenoid itself is an internal part of the transmission and don't plan to address it at this point if that is so, but I am curious to know what you folks make of it.
I searched the threads here but didn't see anything specific to a 1998 XJ8.
Thanks everyone!

Just from the basic aspect of a thrown code, either you have a failed sensor or you have an issue that you cannot hear or feel. As quiet as a Jag is, there is much you don't hear or feel from the well structured frame and body. I am definitely not a transmission guy, but I would suspect either a failed lockout, low pressure or clogged filter causing either of the previous 2.
If you do a Bing and/or Google search for your code, be sure to put Jaguar in front of it to help specify your issue better. Since all auto makers have specific answers to most common codes.

Below is the information from the shop manual listing the possible problem areas.
The easiest for you to check is the condition of the plug and harness to the transmission. Make sure it is undamaged and then clean and polish the connector and re-seat it.
If the regulator is faulty it would need to be replaced. The best way there would be to download the tech manual and then you will be able to remove the pan and locate the regulator. As I understand it the regulator/solenoid is for locking and unlocking the torque convertor.
Things should appear normal but in fact are not since the torque convertor is always running unlocked.
Unfortunately I do not know if that situation will cause additional problems.
