Default coil springs

I will be rebuilding my front suspension at some point (ball joints, bushes etc).
I would like to replace the front coil springs while they are off the car and was thinking of a pair of XJR spec, part #JLM20424 - which I can obtain an aftermarket set at a reasonable price (my car has the sport suspension as it is).
Am I right in thinking that the S/C spec springs would be lower than the normal ones (the part numbers are different) - my car seems to sit a little high at the front which I'm not happy about so a slight lowering here would be ideal. I have studdied several pics of S/C cars but difficult to see if the suspension is lower than "standard".

Many thanks

Hi Andy P

I've been checking out these guys but not got around to asking how much for some lowered springs for my '99 XJ8 sport...

Coil Springs, high quality coiled suspension springs from coil springs

I don't want it scraping the ar$e end out everywhere but just using a standard tape from tyre top to wheel arch and measuring clearance with wheels on full lock suggest a 40mm drop could squeeze in...

Let me know if you try anything

/steve

I believe the XJR springs are slightly lower. But they also have a higher spring rate for the added weight of the supercharger system (which is not inconsequential), so on a non-supercharged car, this will increase the ride height. So it'll probably be a wash, although you should see sprightlier handling. You should investigate some lowering springs like Paramount or Mina Gallery. About a 30mm lowering, very slightly higher spring rate. I'm going with the Minas, because that front fender gap bugs me as well

Thanks for the replies - Cabezagrande's point about the spring rate is very useful and something I would not have been aware of. I have source for a set of 30mm lowered springs but they are quite pricey so I guess either shell out the money or go for the XJR spec and live with the wheel arch gap.
I'll keep you posted when the job is done...
