Cold start issue
Hello, new to Jaguar ownership. I have a 1998 XJ8 3.2. When I got the car, it started fine, however this has got gradually worse! Cold start is worst, doesn't seem too bad once warm.
I have cleaned the MAF which improved things for about a week. But it has now gone back to how it was!!!
Can anyone shed light on any similar problems they have had?
I have been told to change the temp sensor, but I don't know where it is situated, if some kind person could point it out to me please.

Water temp.sensor is in the outlet pipe, that black plastic pipe under the thermostat. Best to buy a new pipe which will come with the sensor installed. All plastic gets brittle. Have you replaced the thermostat housing with a metal one?
Outlet pipe is AJ85885 for the XK8, should be the same for yours.
There is also a air inlet temp. sensor in the MAFS.

In the stickies, look in the SNG Barret Parts Catalogue: you will see it in the cross over pipe, just in front of the engine, just behind the radiator and right above the water pump, with a short stumpy hose from the thermostat housing. It will have wires running from it to the MAF sensor
