Concerns about a road trip to Florida
Ok this is a bit of an oddball question but i'll get to it me and about 4 or 5 freinds are talking about talking a Florida trip from dallas next may at the end of our junior year in my jaguar xj8 and my freinds porsche 928 he has been restoring I think the 2 cars have ample storage for 2 weeks but a 3,000 mile trip set in done on 17
yr old jag is always a question. Do you think the car can make it and with what preventive maintenance done to the car
Another factor at play is this car sat for 4 years after a death in the family before i got it back on the road in late 2017 I replaced the battery, throttle body, and fixed a oil leak the car had and that was over the last 600 or so miles along with changed the oil twice

-Inspect your auxiliary belt(s)
-Inspect your tires and make sure they're properly inflated
-top off all fluids if needed
-make sure your spare is inflated and you have the jack and lug wrench
If everything looks fine I don't see why I'd be afraid to drive 1,500 miles. I have done two thousand mile trips in older cars with higher mileage. Set the cruise, play some tunes, and enjoy the ride. BTW, did you car have the timing chain tensioners replaced. That could be the only no-go here.

It is too early to answer your question. By March, you will know how it has held up and what issues need to be addressed. It would be useful to know how many miles it has and what year, and assurance that the secondary tensioners are the third gen (unless this is an 03) and the water pump, thermostat, and hoses and belts have been renewed.
But, if tires are good, new oil and filter, new fuel filter, zerk fittings greased in the rear end, no overheating -- good to go. Took mine to Florida from Virginia Beach, a few years ago: worked flawlessly and a great ride: at end of the day, after 600 miles or more, felt like I had been sitting in my living room, due to a superb ride, extra quiet, and flawless handling and braking.
