Considering a 2002 XJ8 with $11,500 asking price

Hello: I am considering purchase of a 2002 XJ8 with 89,000 miles on it, several owners, likely a lease vehicle. The attorney is asking $11,500 USD and claims the car is excellent (I am going to go drive it tomorrow). He said it just had front brakes and a power control module put in; only owned it two months and is unhappy with the feel on the highway, wants to go back to Audi's. He purchased a 3rd party powertrain warranty with 4 years on it that transfers for $100.
I have lots of metric and American tools and replaced the nylon timing gears in my 1963 Lincoln Continental. My Ford Taurus was just squashed by hurricane Ike so I seek another vehicle. I did the brakes and rear bearings myself on the Taurus, but shopped out the CV joint repair. I had anInfiniti Q45with nylon timing chain guides that vaporized before I could do anything with it, but I really liked the way the Q handled, and now I can hear a loosetiming chain a mile away.
So do you think I should buy this car? What should I look for when I inspect this vehicle? Do you think $11,500 is a fair price if the condition is good-excellent? Your advice is most welcome, thanks.

I happen to have a 02 XJ Sport (the XJ8 but with wheels and a few tweeks similar to an XJR). I have about 85K miles on mine, and overall it is in excellent condition. It needs timing chain tensioners like they all do, and the tranny is starting to make noise (yours will to.)
I would be extactic to get 10K out of mine. Might give you some perspective.

I recently bought a 98 xjr with a little under 70k miles, car in good condition, some scratches on the back bumper but no dents. I purchased it for 8k$. I think the price tag on the one you are looking at is a little high see if you can get him to go down a bit, or look around there are plenty of good deals out there.

I think the milage is a little high for $11,500. That said I paid $22,000 for an '02 back in November of 2007, from a widow but the car was like brand new inside and out. No issues so far, the PO had the chain tensioners replaced by the dealer under warranty. That puzzles me a little because I thought the '02s had updated tensioners. The warranty on the Jag you are considering is worth quite a sum depending on how good it is. I paid $3000 for a seven-year, 100,000 milage-limit warranty. But it is not just a drive train warranty, it covers just about everything except consumables.
