Default Coolant hose 'connector' question

Greetings,

I think I just about replaced all 'coolant' related on my XJ8, but a plastic 'T' recently broke on the coolant hose matrix which forces me to replace the whole thing (I had replaced a valve in it before though). So how do I disconnect / re-connect what appears to be a 'clip in' connector system? See picture. Something tells me might need a dedicated tool... hopefully not. Access seems miserable. Thanks a million!

The plastic ring closest to your finger is pushed forward covering the green clips and engaging them. A small screwdriver and fingers are all you need.

Many thanks Vern. I was able to remove old hose/connector (scary as the black ring kind of moved easily though... probably an imminent problem anyway). I reconnected the new hose without the 'green plastic ring' and leaked. I figured that green plastic thing must have been there for a reason... so will try again with that.

OK.... so I FINALLY got this NORMA connector to fit and locked in. Drum roll..... it leaks! #%$ A small drop every second or so, seems like coming from the little visible 'hole' in the core of the connector. I searched on the forum here and I seem to not be the only one with encountering a similar problem. I have read about a potential manufacturing defect and need to return the part... really? so many defective parts been produced? Just want to hear some thoughts before I go bonkers....

I have seen a few people on here ( recently ) with the same issue.

Is this the genuine one?

Either way you'll need to take it back and have it replaced under parts warranty. If this isn't genuine, might have to go genuine or modify the hose to fit.
