Looks like its at the top of the thermostat housing. Is there an O ring or some kind of gasket that can be replaced under that cap?

There is a gasket under there. The cap is only a few bucks and comes with gasket.
Your t-stat housing looks a little worse for ware too.

Fixed for $24 includeing jag coolant.

Now on to the oil leak.

Ken are they the aluminum housings? I have heard of them, but never seen one on a car yet. Do they work well? I may be interested for wifes car.

Yes:
The aluminum Tstst housing looks as if the part was made from a mold of the original plastic. (might be!)

BTW How do the pros r/r this part. I made two wrenches out of cheap open end box wrenches - crowsfoot arrangement plus ground off edges and sides. Took about 10 hrs, or a little longer because I took it slow. Iknow the manual says to r/r the intake manifold but I did not have any gaskets and did not want to wait to get some.

I have the same exact leak, not as bad though as i can see/ i will be upgrading to the aluminum housing and different t-stat from eurotoys ( http://eurotoysltd.com/catalog/produ...oducts_id=1173 )

does anyone have any experience with this different tstat from eurotoys? if not i will most likely go OEM
