coolant leaks-helpful hint

Hi all, my 2000 XJR has been pretty reliable but I do want to share a tip that might save you some money. Brief background, kept getting coolant low light. Never saw big puddles of water at the beginning, but quickly over 2 weeks the leak became larger and more random. So I took it to mechanic for diagnose. The diverter (?) which is a plastic part (with some metal too) was worn out. Not normally a super difficult problem EXCEPT that to replace it would require hours of work because the super charger would have to be removed and then re-installed - many hours of labor.
Anyway the mechanic located on the Jag notes somewhere and found a liquid available from Jag at about $200 that is designed to fix the problem as many other owners complained about the repairs with supercharger removal. It does work fairly well. I was told to keep driving and not add antifreeze (add only water) so that the parts would mend with the copper that is in the magic Jag fluid. Over time it is improving. Now down to adding a cup of water every 2 weeks. I hope the trick continues to work over the next few weeks and becomes a permanent fix !

It is a general recommendation to "never use radiator stop leaks" as some of these products, in addition to stopping the leak, may cause clogging of the cooling system, especially the heater matrix. Hopefully, the Bar's product will do no harm.

Totally agree, fix the part and then flush your system before you clog the radiator.
