Question Coolant Tank Wire. Any help appreciated!

Hi everyone here at the JaguarForums, good afternoon to my people here on the west coast.
So, I messed up last night, hopefully not too bad but whenever something goes wrong with the jag it feels like the end of the world
Basically i was refilling my coolant reservoir tank when my hand slipped pulling out the right most small cable that seems too hook into the radiator.

After freaking out for over an hour trying so stick it back in i went the good old "duct tape fixes all" and put down some epoxy then wrapped it in the duct tape to keep a semi closed circuit going.

So fellow jag enthusiasts. Am i screwed? is it just a normal generic cable that needs to be fixed, or hopefully (HOPEFULLY) just a new connector needed to snap that bad boy back in place?
please any and all feedback is appreciated and thanked.

thank you dsnyder586 +++
im guessing what i need is that connector that looks intact with the cable above my duct taped monstrosity lol, but in any case its a standard cable right?
mechanics out here in cali will see a standard HID light and say it has a $300 tax for being a foreign jaguar -_-

I would say it is bleed hose #7. Hopefully reservoir is ok and not broken/cracked.

I think that is a expansion tank hose, check parts geek. Easy to get and fix.

Default coolant tank

That hose is pressurised when the motor is hot, I think you will need to replace the whole tank. I would steer away from second hand, as they become brittle (as you have discovered). Meanwhile, I wouldn't drive very far, if the motor overheats, it can cause big problems. Temperature gauge is useless, as it gets to middle of dial and stays there until temperature get to 215F.

Upon closer inspection, it looks like you may have broken the nipple that holds the hose on- time for a new reservoir and hose as Fredd60 says. You really do not want an overheat so best to be safe and replace both, as it is cheap insurance.

+thanks to you all, im sorrry i cant reply to each at a time, id rather not spam up the thread.

but yes the majority are right (fingers crossed) its the nipple bleed that needs to be replaced/looked at. its a big relief knowing it isnt crazy expensive.
While on that topic tho, what is the price for a used but good, or even new complete reservoir tank gentlemen? Ill be sure to check our own sell/trade and partout forums in a second

and finally, i learned the overheat problem the hard way unfortunately.
This whole problem has started by a faulty Resorvoir Cap ive purchashed and had replaced at o'reilly (Kragen), and auto parts store here in cali. Each time the same thing happened, the top would screw off, leaning the inner threads in the jag, and exposing the spring and cap looking thing.
Anyways from there and with this busted hose I have unfortunatly unknowningly overheated to the point my cat shut itself off at a red light and would not start until she cooled down a bit

I believe around the corner from you is Sun valley and a junkyard that Danielsand swears by. (look up a few of his recent threads for the name)

As far as a new one, I have not priced them out- but it looks like they are around $200+

Hi
I purchased a used Security Locking Control Module from Prime Auto Parts and Salvage - 7250 Coldwater Canyon Ave North Hollywood California.

Nice People with good prices and customer service.

weblink link to Yelp's writeup on them:

once again thanks gentlement, im definalty going to check all those links and find my best change at a whole new reservoir.

One new peice to the puzzle, and this is most troubling one to me.
I did a bit of a mickey-mouse job and hit a local junk yard, where unfortunatly i only found really old models or ones with the entire engines taken out, anyways i got the hoses connected as best i could, filled the tank up with some water....and it emptied within a minute or sooo....
After climbing under i could see at lease 3-5 different, somewhat serious leaks all falling from what felt like a long cylindrical object.
Any ideas on what that is or how i can fix it? I did once cover the bottom of my reservoir tank epoxy to stop small cracks, is that a viable option/

Ok I thought about this for a bit- are you talking about the exhaust manifold? I recommend going to purchase a coolant pressure tester- it will help you isolate things.

Is it leaking from the side, rear or front of the motor?

Those hoses snapped easily I have to replace a few myself before the new engine goes in. If for some reason the expansion tank cracked, I have a extra one shoot me an offer through pm. They're a bit pricey used listed on eBay.

With all due respect to the usefulness of duct tape, duct tape and Jaguar cooling system do not go together. Get a good used expansion tank and a new coolant hose (part # above, post #7) with a norma connector. These connectors are a little tricky to get apart, and there are numerous posts on this, but they are easy to put together. They have little o-rings in them and they "click" together. Don't let the engine overheat, it can have very dire consequences, and don't trust the temp gauge.

A little update on the status of my crippled Jag, but first an aside.
I made a friend at a bar last night. While drinking and making small talk, the topic of cars came up. Long story short it turned out he's an owner of an auto shop.

Here's where i'd really appreciate advice from our board members.

He said for $300 he'll get that coolant tank (Expansion Tank i believe officially called), hoses, and everything else needed including labor taken care of.
What does the JaguarForums think about that?

Did I make a good friend who is looking out for me, orr did he see it as an opportunity to take advantage of a guy in need.
