Default Cooling help

Hello all, so yesterday I was pulling into my driveway to top off my tranny oil. I didn't want to go to my next errand before doing that. The moment I started pulling out my driveway, the car began feeling funny and checked the infamous temp gauge and it was above normal so I turned the car off and looked under the bonnet to only see that the fan wasn't running and heard the coolant boiling. (Before I got to my driveway I did have the heater on for a bit, I don't know if that could've been part of the issue)At that point I'm freaking out and yanked the fuse cover to check if the #14 fuse was blown since its been blowing that fan fuse frequently (I have yet to figure out why) and it was fine. At this point I'm puzzled just standing there looking at the coolant just leak out. Correct me if I'm wrong but could it be possible that it was coming from the reservoir on the front left hand side of the car? There is a line from the expansion tank leading to that reservoir. I figured it came from there since I was not able to identify if it was coming from any other hose. I let the car cool before I began taking a look into it. Removed the front bumper and looked for the culprit leak but, nothing. However, I found out that the previous owner had heatshrinked tubed the fan wiring harness connector to its appropriate female connector. (The one leading to the long rectangular cube relay I think it is) Now would anyone mind telling me how to check if my cooling fan relay is bad with a multimeter or with the appropriate tool? I already ordered a new cooling fan wiring harness and another fan since the one on the bottom of the shroud was dead.

See bottom replay # 8 in this thread :

Any questions , just ask .

The fan control relay module is a challenge to decipher but you can swap fans to ensure that both fan motors work . My relay was full of water and beyond repair as I sawed it apart .

Since you have a compromised harness you can modify it for testing the fan motors but not until the replacement harness arrives .

By turning on the air conditioner you may see both fans commanded on as this goes through the fan control relay module .

I believe there is a history on the X308 of the coolant thermostat failing in the closed position .

So is there a way to indentify if the fan relay behind the headlamp isn't working with a volt meter? All I got from that number eight post was how the sensor communicates and operates.

Sure , pull the connectors off the fans and read for 12 volts as you turn the air conditioner on , or remove the Engine Temp Sensor and heat with a heat gun or put a paper clip in the sensor connector . If you see the 12 volts we'll go from there as that doesn't tell you everything about the relays health .
