Crank crank .. NO START
Hello everyone:
I recently had an oil change by my friend for 1999 xj8. It gets started and we noticed an oil leak. He didnt install the oil filter properly. He fixed it, top up engine oil, and ignite it but it keep on cranking but not starting.
The obd detects the knock sensor failed on bank 1. Next morning we gave a try and it started. Drove around and turned it off but never started after. Keeps on cranking but not starting up.
now he already erased that code for failed knock sensor, its showing p1000 , i guess thats for not completing the system check.
what should we do now. If i get the knock sensor and still it dosent works. That will cost me 300$ and will not solve the issue.
any inputs or advices are highly appreciated.
thanks

Use a smart phone with the Torque app to communicate with the vehicle PCM through the OBD port via a Bluetooth interface.
The fuel pressure with the ignition in the ON position prior to engaging the starter should be about 3 bar. If there is fuel pressure that drops whilst the starter is engaged, the CPK is the likely culprit as is sends a message to the PCM that the crankshaft is rotating. If the PCM does not receive that signal, it shuts off the fuel pump.
